New term to add to the list! Because racism is the gift that keeps on giving.
White Man’s Tears (noun) . Complementary term to White Woman’s Tears. This shit happened. Seriously. Like, two hours ago. I can’t. And neither can the friend that this happened to. Just… no. White people, I’ma need you to stop crying to get out of getting in trouble for shit that you did, because I’m noticing a pattern here:
- White person says something offensive.
- White person denies saying offensive thing.
- White person inadvertently admits that they meant to, and thus admits that they’re lying.
- White person continues to deny their privilege, and the fact that they said anything offensive.
- White person tries to convince themselves (or the POC, frankly, idk who the hell they’re trying to fool with this part) that they and the POC are still friends, and that the POC ~knows that I’m not racist. I swear I’m not~
- White person then informs the POC that “I forgive you.” Because the POC was obviously the one who was wrong. Because POC pointing out white privilege and ignorance is wrong and it hurts their feelings having to listen to someone tell them how wrong they are.
- White person realizes that the POC isn’t swallowing said white person’s pile of shit.
- White person cries.
Sound about right?
I promise you I have seen this in action and it is both infuriating and hilarious.
