can we talk for a second about how for asians the fear was deportation, and for black people the fear was rape murder and torture? of yourself and  your family? sanctioned and enjoyed by other citizens? and used as celebrations and entertainment?

HOW can you compare this to deportation? HOW? i’m not sitting here saying that asian-americans have been through nothing. we’ve been through a lot of shit. but you’re sitting here saying that deportation was a reason asians did not rebel?

BLACK PEOPLE FACED DEATH RAPE AND TORTURE. THAT’S NOT A BIGGER RISK?

ok so i just want to point out here that there were plenty instances of violence against asian immigrants in the us, starting from the railroad years. and while filipinos may have been allowed burial in white cemeteries in louisiana, there are asian railroad workers who were buried in indian burial mounds b/c they where allowed to be put in white cemeteries.

also, for a lot of people? deportation now *does* mean a threat of rape, death, and torture. look what happened to maher arar.
