I just am continually baffled
By how someone can walk into a conversation and say “Oh, wow, I totally understand where you’re coming from person Y and I soooo understand your history that you’re speaking from. But you’re still wrong, because White People.”
Cause I mean, that’s what it comes down to every time, right?
It’s like “Yeah, no, you’re absolutely right. Except WHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTEEEEEEEE PEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOPPPPPLLLLLEEE”
And everyone’s just like “But wait, you just—”
“WHHHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTEEEEE WHITEY WHITE WHITE EGGSHELL CREAM MAYO CREAM CHEESE WHITE WHITE WHITE PEOPLE.”
Anyway, that’s what I’m seeing all over my dash.
That’s essentially what’s happening. I’m really amused that someone can say they don’t know how to do black hair & get mad a black woman peeped game & asked for someone who would definitely have past experience with their hair type.
Like, I’m loathe to make this comparison, because it’s so loaded, but I will try to do it delicately.
What I’m seeing is a lot of white people up in arms for WOC daring *gasp* to exercise the same basic scrutiny ANY consumer would be advised to use.
Like, you wouldn’t go into an Apple store and say “Hey, hook me up with one of them fancy new Microsoft Phones.”
Nor would you go into an average gas station auto shop and ask for a brand new Maserati.
Like…how is this a problem?
Oh, it’s a problem because it’s a Black Woman having the audacity to say “Yeah, no, white people can’t do *everything*.”?
Y’all been seent.
