Scenes like this one is why I side-eye anyone who thinks RTD handled race in Doctor Who  appropriately.

For reals. 900 years old, this man has dealt with humans and humanity for centuries, and you mean to tell me in all of his time on the planet he doesn’t even have a goddamn BASIC NOTION OF RACISM DOWN?????

Get the fuck out.

SMH. You’ve been a genius forever? And been eating shit on Earth for about the same amount of time? And you DON’T KNOW that the reason why you’ve been able to travel ANYTIME, ANYWHERE is because you’re a WHITE, GUY. Get all the way the fuck outta here man >_>

Funny how the man can spout off quantum physics, a shit ton of different languages and a fuck ton of other philosophical stuff but addressing racism in its basic form is just too fucking hard????

Chile, please….

You know with white, European writers, we were lucky to even get this and the parts in “Human Nature”, since the UK doesn’t have racism.

DOCTOR WHO REWATCH
3.08 - Human Nature

#when people hate martha even though she went through shit like this with the doctor and protected him in every way possible and did everything he told her and got treated horribly by everyone #wtf fandom

^^ THIS!

The fact that she stayed with him after this still amazes me. And we never saw him apologize for any of this either. IDEK, how fandom justifies the hate after this & Blink.

He never raised his voice. That was the worst thing. ‘The fury of the Time Lord’. And then we discovered why. Why this Doctor, who’d fought with Gods and Demons, why he’d run away from us, and hidden.

He was being kind.

He wrapped my father in unbreakable chains, forged in the heart of a dwarf star.
He tricked my mother into the event horizon of a collapsing galaxy. To be imprisoned there… forever.
He still visits my sister, once a year, every year. I wonder if one day he might forgive her, but there she is. Can you see her? He trapped her inside a mirror.
Every mirror. If ever you look at your reflection, and see something move behind you, just for a second. That’s her. That’s always her.
As for me I was suspended in time. And the Doctor put me to work, standing over the fields of England as their protector.

We wanted to live forever.
So the Doctor made sure that we did.

God I hated this whole thing. “Hey Martha, be a doll and be an oppressed, disrespected, and a harassed servant girl for a while so that I can show mercy on these murderers in the most unnecessarily convoluted way ever.” Like he couldn’t have shown mercy on them in some way that didn’t involve him turning human for a bit and being the ultimate dick to Martha? Oh, and look what your little stunt resulted in asshat: way more people dead. Whereas if you had addressed the situation properly in the first place, you could have stopped that.

I don’t blame Ten for this. I blame the writer of these piss-poor, terrible, awful episodes. Paul Cornell made the Doctor completely break his character just so they could do something interesting with a god damn fob watch. Unfuck you Paul Cornell. Unfuck you for these stupid episodes, making the Doctor do something he wouldn’t, and making Martha Jones, who is way more badass a character than you could ever dream of successfully writing for, suffer.

I totally agree with you about the suffering part for Martha. But thinking about it, with the ending and all, I kind of like the way the ending went, in a sense. In some weird twisted way, this WAS the Doctor avenging all of the hardship Martha went through to protect him. An unspoken “You forced my companion Martha to endure like this for me. You will now suffer. FOR ALL ETERNITY. Because nobody fucks with My MARTHA…”
