Beautiful creatures that live in natural water places, they are know for causing skin disease that only they can cure with their haunting cries. They are so dangerous that only skilled herbalist risk entering places where they are known to be.

Annushka, a  Kalmyk of Western Mongolian Oirat ancestry, was a serf and pupil of  Countess Varvara Sheremeteva, daughter of Count Sheremetev. Argunov  himself was a serf of Count Sheremetev (1713-1788). In her hands  Annushka is holding the portrait of the late Count Varvara Sheremeteva.
