Title: Things the Avengers Learn after they move in together
Clint sings in the shower. Loudly.
Pairing: Clintasha (duh)
Disclaimer: Don’t own Avengers (sigh) or the lyrics to Dan McLean’s “American Pie”
A/N: If you haven’t seen (or heard) Jeremy Renner singing “American Pie” from Love Comes for the Executioner you need to. Youtube search “Lovely Jeremy Renner singing” and watch it. I’ll wait here. Back? Good. The lyrics in this have been tweaked to match how he sings it there because I was totally listening to the audio file on repeat when I wrote this. Doesn’t help that the cd in my car has it after “A Promise” from the movie score, so I have this image of Clint and Natasha asleep in bed and then her waking up to him singing.
I mean, I can’t miss. I’m on a team with super-humans. And one god, in case you’ve forgotten. The training is the only thing that makes me special. And if I’m not special, then none of this is worth it. I gave up a lot for this life. … But I wanted to play with the big boys. And if I miss. It means I’m just another dude with a bow. It means I’ve been fooling myself this whole time.
And that’s why I never miss.
“Just a little longer, Nat.”
“I don’t want to do this.”
“I’ve got the shot. Trust me.”
“Trust me, Natasha. I’ve got your back.”
“Are you coming back to bed, or not?”
“Jesus, Nat, give me a minute…”
“Seriously, you’re tired?”
“We just saved the world.”
“And now I’m asking you to rock mine.”
‘Love is for children.’
‘I’m not her boyfriend, twelve year olds have boyfriends. I’m her man.’
