I’m going to need someone to stitch together all of their scenes into Samcedes ep. I don’t care about anything else on this show, but I want to see them.
I would bet money if Mercedes looked like Alisha from Misfits a lot of her haters would be kissing the ground that she walked on, Oh and they would probably adore Samcedes and would not be using Jabba the fucking hut.
She’d still get hate; they’d just not be able to use the sizeist arguments against it.
Alisha gets tons of hate, it’s just that her fanbase is large enough to drown most of it out.

Lets not forget that people CHEERED when Tara died in True Blood, as well as folks calling Alisha a bitch on Misfits, Mercedes being lazy (and apparently, fat black women can never get a white man) on Glee and Uhura being ragged on for kissing Spock in Star Trek.
But it ain’t about racism tho. Despite black women in fandoms getting shit on the most, it ain’t about racism. Nope. It just ALWAYS happens to be the black woman…

Okay, so — I stopped watching Glee because I wasn’t enjoying it any more even on the smallest level. And from what I gather, Finn outed Santana and got roundly slapped for it, to which, you know — go Santana.
But on a real life level, the fact that Naya was directed to slap Corey without anybody *telling him* it was going to happen? That she didn’t really want to do it and felt bad about it afterwards? That creeps me out and tells me a LOT about the way that Glee’s writers and directors feel about not just the characters, but the actors. Like these aren’t *real people* behind the over-the-top characterizations, which makes the horrible onscreen shenanigans all the more violent and misshapen.
And if you’re gonna tell me that it ain’t no big D to take a slap when you *as a person* haven’t done anything to warrant it? You need to shut your mouth and see what it feels like first.
I just…this is why this show sucks.

No matter what Mercedes/Amber does, there is going to be a dark, miserable corner of this fandom which hates her no matter what. Which hates her just for existing. Because she’s bigger and she’s black yet she’s rich, famous, talented, gorgeous and glamorous. She’s on their favorite TV show and they are not. She gets to touch and hug Chord, Cory, Kevin, Darren, the rest of their favorites, and they do not. They think she should be below them because she’s a plus size woman of color, but she’s on top of the fucking world right now. Millions of people admire her. Important people. Adele. THE PRESIDENT. And while they’re biting back the bitter bile of their tears, fapping to pictures of the other cast mates, those same cast mates are calling up Amber telling her what an awesome job she did on her performance.
So they can stay mad.

Glee Mysteries 28: How is Rachel supposed to successfully attend and graduate NYADA, and become a Broadway star, when time and time again she’s been shown unable to handle rejection and competition? She will have to share solos and roles at NYADA and on Broadway, she will not just be handed things, she will have to audition and work for it, she will face rejection at some point, and probably more than once. She will not be able to complain until a role is handed to her or stop auditions being held to pick who will sing/for a part, she will not be allowed to get away with sending her competition to crack houses or appointing herself as the lead. How is Rachel supposed to achieve her dreams when it’s been established she can’t handle something that goes hand in hand with it?
One of the biggest elephants in the room that’s never properly addressed.
