The Top 6 Reasons Why You Should Hate Dan Savage

forgetpolitics:

1. Dan Savage hates trans people and uses transphobic slurs.

“Children have a right to some stability and constancy from the adults in their lives. Perhaps I’m a transphobic bigot, but I honestly think waiting a measly 36 months to cut your dick is a sacrifice any father should be willing to make for his 15-year-old son. Call me old-fashioned.

Unfortunately, your ex wasn’t willing to make that sacrifice (selfish tranny!), or it never occurred to him to make that sacrifice (stupid tranny!)…. If your son can’t deal with having his dad/mom/whatever around right now, support him and tell his dad/mom/whatever to leave the two of you alone for the time being.”

2. Dan Savage believes that bisexuals do not and should not exist.

“I’m not saying bi guys are bad people, or they don’t make great one-night stands. Bushes, bathhouses, and sleazy gay bars are crawling with bi guys. But if a guy wants more, he’ll have an easier time getting it from another gay man.”

3. Dan Savage has admonished women for not putting up with their partner’s sexual desires and has criticized female rape survivors’ stories.

There the guy was, boned for you, and he was brave enough to put his desires out there, to make himself vulnerable (which is what the ladies are always saying they want, right?), and you lobbed the ol’ “What?!?” bomb at him and made him feel like a freak. Is it any wonder that he quickly moved on to “other things” and, one would hope, better sex partners?”

I’m extremely sorry that you were raped, DRARS, although your baseless accusations of rape make me doubt you when you claim to be a survivor of rape. The feminist bloggers are going to accuse me of thought crimes: If a woman says she was raped then, by God, she was raped. (Tell it to the lacrosse team.) But if my reaction to your letter is a thought crime, I can only plead entrapment: I wouldn’t have had these illegal thoughts if you hadn’t sent me such a stupid letter in the first place… Finally, DRARS, I hereby withdraw my consent for you to read Savage Love. If you continue to read my column against my will, well, we all know what word to apply to your actions.”

4. Dan Savage thinks that racist gay white men are less of a threat to African-Americans than homophobic African-Americans are to gay people.

EDIT: The quote below is indeed Dan’s response to Prop 8 and black homophobia, I have added some more of the senseless shit that has spewed out of his mouth so that no one will be confused as to how much of an asshole he is:

“I do know this, though: I’m done pretending that the handful of racist gay white men out there—and they’re out there, and I think they’re scum—are a bigger problem for African Americans, gay and straight, than the huge numbers of homophobic African Americans are for gay Americans, whatever their color…I’ll eat my shorts if gay and lesbian voters went for McCain at anything approaching the rate that black voters went for Prop 8.”

EDIT: Here are some more lovely gems from our resident asshole Dan Savage on his rampant hatred for everything not white, male, and gay:

5. Dan Savage thinks asexuals are secretly “fags”.

“I appreciate the feedback, Stephanie, and I’m sorry I offended you. But… um… I couldn’t help but think, as I read your letter, that your boyfriend is either a fool or a fag. But if it works for you guys—if a romantic relationship devoid of sexual attraction and activity works for you guys—then it works for you guys. Who am I to argue with success?”

6. Dan Savage is fatphobic.

“First off, LARDASS, you neglected to include a sign-off, forcing me to create one for you. I tried to create one that captured the spirit and tone of your letter, and I think I did pretty well… I am thoroughly annoyed at having my tame statements of fact—being heavy is a health risk; rolls of exposed flesh are unsightly—characterized as ‘hate speech.’”

Dear fellow cis people,

cruelyouth:

We’re cis.

We’re not “normal.”

And it’s pretty cissexist and dehumanizing of you to call yourself “normal” in comparison to “trans*.”

The objective, correct word you’re looking for is “cis.”

I know that, in your unchecked cissexist, transphobic mind, calling yourself “normal” in comparison to “trans*” might make you feel better about yourself and might make you feel more comfortable.

But it’s mindsets like yours that contributes to the oppression and violence trans* people face on a regular basis.

Really, sit and think about what you’re doing here.

Do you notice how horrible you sound?

If so, good.

If not, come here, and I’ll gladly collect you.

PSA post to my fellow feminists

trans*women can’t appropriate a woman’s identity

why?

because they are women.

Maybe this needs repeating- but being a woman transcends your genitalia or your chromosomes. Being a woman is how you identify. That’s it. That’s all it takes to identify as a woman. If you know in your heart of hearts that you are a woman- that’s all it is.

So don’t be that douche bag that has the audacity to degrade a transwoman or demand her to prove her womanhood. She owes you no explanation.

Now if you really are a feminist, you will defend her existence to the death and ensure that she always has a safe space and voice with in the movement.

I can message the person who I was rude to, but I do want to apologize:

TW: Transphobia

fit-and-slim:

What I said was unforgivable, and disgraceful. It is really out of character for me. I feel awful for what I led you to. This is not an excuse: I had a bad day plus was getting ton of hate on tumblr and your were the easiest target. No where was it right and I should have never said it. I have nothing against transgendered people, I support it. I can’t message you on my phone but, I am sorry and I think publically saying it world be the best. I am sorry

Fuck you and fuck your transphobia and fuck this bullshit apology.

You have no problem with “trangendered people”?  You support “it”? TRANS* PEOPLE ARE NOT “IT“S.  I AM NOT A FUCKING “IT”.  GRYFFIN IS NOT A FUCKING “IT”.

Let me tell you something, you transphobic asshole.  On my worst fucking days, there is absolutely no part of me that would deem it acceptable to call a person of color a racial slur, or a disabled person an ableist slur.  Why?  Because even on my worst days, there is no part of me that finds it acceptable to dehumanize another person.  The fact that there is an obvious part of you that does find this acceptable should cause you to take a serious fucking look at yourself and your “I don’t trans* people!” bullshit.

People like you are the reason the phrase “Die cis scum” was invented.

Reblogging for the bolded, because it bears repeating now and forever. (The rest of the response is pretty epic too)

I’m noticing an ongoing trend of complete lack of support for trans women everywhere…

holzmantweed:

whencylonsdream:

Like, even from people that are fucking awesome about everything else.

It never seems to cross peoples minds to be inclusive towards trans women.

It never seems to cross peoples minds to acknowledge trans women.

It never seems to cross peoples minds that without inclusive and acknowledging statements, trans women need to assume that we aren’t wanted.

We NEED to do this because we are tired as fuck of assuming that we are being included.

We are tired of coming into women’s groups and being victimized and abused.

We are tired of going to rape crisis centers and being turned away because our existence is triggering.

We are tired of wanting a safe space and then being told WE are the rapists, the deceivers, the monsters, and the child molesters.

We are tired of being the punchline and the joke. The fetish object and “best of both worlds” so long as we’re gone by morning.

Never mind the fact that many of us are victims of rape.

That many of us have dealt with child abuse.

That many of us have been physically assaulted.

That all of us live and deal with the constant deceptive nature of cis people.

We NEED to assume we aren’t wanted. Because the whole wide world is telling us we’re trash and we can’t be arsed to assume that you actually meant to include us when you said fucking nothing.

We don’t have the fucking luxury to assume that we are being included.

So yeah…

Make it damn clear that you want us around.

Make it clear that you won’t put up with transmisogyny.

Make it clear that you view us as women. That you view us as fucking people.

I’d like to see some fucking solidarity, but I wonder if this will even be reblogged?

And if it is reblogged I wonder how many people that aren’t trans women will do so?

I’m honestly not betting much, so I guess we’ll see.

Simple concept that somehow eludes more people than it should — which is to say anyone:  transgender women are women, transgender men are men.

There’s several in my life, some of whom are reading these very words.  In case I haven’t made it clear enough in word and deed elsewhere, here it is again:  I’m glad each of you is here.

People with a problem with any of that need to step off now before they make utter fools of themselves in a forum that never forgets.

polerin

I don't know who posted this shit about Dipolo and ballroom...

polerin:

But people were talking about the cultural theft, othering of PoC, and double shots of racism on the rocks.  All of which is true.  But I have to pause for a second and note the blatant transphobia and erasure here.

Wow, this one Asian trans woman must be hopped up on estrogen, because she had such nice boobs and perfect straight hair.

It’s so completely Japanese and postmodern that she was one of the only natural-born women in the whole club, and that no one but me found it strange.

Fuck you for being a creepy ass cissexist misogynistic douchebag.  I wonder if this woman knew you were going to post her picture up on there talking about how nice her boobs are.  And “natural woman?”  What am I…  a cyborg hell beast bent on global distru.. ok yeah but that’s just me.  I like how you posted two photos of her with glowing terms.  Are trans women making you just a little uncomfortable?  Good.  Fuck you more.

If you’re not coming out as a transgender woman, you could be mistaken as a total thug

What it is with random transphobia in shit tonight?  “Coming out as a transgender woman?”  Like this is some costume I put on every morning?  “Fuckit, I think I’ll be queer today, lemmie just slip into these pants and do my eyebrows. Hippity skippity yay!”  Throw some more crap in there, no really.  Using transgender and trans makes you HIP.  Nice with the Thug comment too, way to double down.

“I need a classy white n***** that will pay for my tits,” says the broad-shouldered transsexual that could be confused for a local plumber.

………………………….

… I’m just going to leave this shit here.  I had a fucked up enough evening without this.

[tw: transmisogyny, transphobia] Feminist Blog Outs Trans Women, Posts Pictures

fromonesurvivortoanother:

This blog post outs several transwomen with both pseudonyms AND legal names, their photos, where they can be found at the festival, and in some cases their profession and employment. Being on this “hitlist” of transwomen was not consented to by any of them, and it associates them with accusations of volatile behavior that the author has absolutely no proof any of them participated in. The blogger refuses to use female pronouns and asserts that these women, who live in one of the most marginalized segments of our society, are “chest pounding” and trying to assert male privilege in invading a womens’ space – as if people who’ve survived gender dysphoria and live outside of our binary ideas of gender have any male privilege to speak of.

Here’s the original post in question (tw for transphobic and cis-sexist bullshit). This is absolutely ridiculous on so many levels. Regardless of how you feel about transpeople, you should absolutely be concerned that Wordpress is allowing defamatory, person-targeting practices like this to happen, despite a clear violation of their Terms of Service.

You can report GenderTrender to Wordpress for violating terms of service HERE.

In a bizarre lack of coincidence, one of the women they outted, the one that they link her legal name to her online name?  just lost her job today.
